From March 2010 to May 2011, 28 patients with nonunions, pseudoarthrosis of tibia and femur shaft bone were treated with internal fixation, autologous bone marrow and artificial bone grafting at Institute of Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery, Vietduc Hospital with at least 7 months follow-up. Results: One case had broken plate, one had infection and one had peeled off the late after surgery. Bone union was obtained in 25/28 of patients (89.3%) at an average of 6.3 months (ranged 4 - 15 months). The monitoring of changes in bone healing after surgery merely based on clinic and X-ray, no cases had been evaluated bone healing through education research organization of the grafted bone. In two special cases, the results of pathological anatomy of the organization after operation demonstrated the effectiveness of treatment of nonunion of long bone treated with internal fixation, autologous bone marrow and artificial bone grafting.
