A retrospective review of 711 tibial or fibula fractures of 701 patients, who were treated at B15 Department, 103 Hospital between 2008 and 2012. We recorded the patterns of epidemiology and fractue as well as whether or not acute compartment syndrome (ACS) developed. Analyse an increased risk of developing ACS. Results: 44 patients (6. 2%) developed ACS, most patients were male (84.1%) and young (average age 35 years), traffic accident was the most common mechanism trauma (86.4%). ACS occurred in common of closed fractures (72.7%), proximal (31.8%), proximal third of diaphysis (22.7%), middle third of diaphysis (20.5%) and segmental fracture (11.4%). The risk of developing ACS was higher in closed fracture than that in opened fracture (11.2% vs 2.8%, OR = 4.3). The risk of developing ACS was higher in proximal and proximal third of diaphysis fracture than that in other fractures (16.4% vs 3.5%, OR = 5.8).
