A prospective research was conducted on 35 burn patients. Recovery characteristics of donor sites from scalp and other body parts for split thickness skin graft was compared. The mean taken scalp area was 343.02 ± 12.27 cm2/operation, tantamounting to 2.28% total body surface area in adult. Wound healing time and duration for next operation of scalp were shorter than other body parts (6.23 ± 0.73 vs. 9.58 ± 2.15 days; p = 0,046 and 6.26 ± 1.26 vs 8.78 ± 0.94 days; p < 0.05 respectively). Following 3 and 6 months of operation, excellent hair growing, no sensation disorder were recorded on scalp area. Meanwhile, 100% pigmentation was seen on other donor sites, local inflammation and developing hypertropic scar on 2/8 cases was also recorded.
