Tóm tắt Người Huế vẫn còn truyền tụng câu chuyện dùng trái mù u đánh giặc Pháp: Khi thấy quân Pháp bước không co chân, dân ta tưởng họ không có đầu gối, nên rải trái mù u để cho họ té ngã, không đứng dậy được thì mặc sức mà đánh. Ngày thất thủ kinh đô, trước đồn Mang Cá, mù u có rải thật nhưng Tây không đạp ngã mà là quân binh Việt khi bị phản công, đua nhau chạy thì lại bị ngã! Calophyllum inophyllum là một loại cây cao mọc nhiều ở nước ta. Trong dân gian nhựa cây dùng để chữa sưng tấy, mụn nhọt, lở loét, nấm tóc, bệnh da, viêm thần kinh, trị thấp khớp. Vỏ cây dùng trị bệnh dạ dày, xuất huyết nội. Rễ cây dùng chữa viêm chân răng. Dầu từ hột dùng để xoa bóp trị phong thấp, chữa bỏng rất hiệu nghiệm. Calophyllum inophyllum is a great tree widely cultivated in all tropical regions of the world. It is medicinally used as antiseptic, astringent, expectorant, analgesis, diuretic and purgative.
